1. After the normal sanding, cleaning and prepping, the tank and
fenders are primed, painted white and then pearled over that.
2. Then spray a light coat of basecoat to seal the pearl. I
use DuPont Chroma Basemixed 50-50 with HOK SG-100 clear .
3. After drying, mask your design. Then spray your candy colors
lightly so as to keep the transparent look.
4. Unmask and spray a light coat of basecoat clear to help
burn down the edges of the sprayed design.
5. I always give the clearcoat a light sand with 600 grit dry sandpaper
to be sure the edges are smoother.
6. Next, mix a little transparent black and airbrush shadows on
the bottom of the designs. Use the center of the tank to determine one side from
the other always spraying the bottoms of the design..
7. Then, clear it lightly so you won't smear the shadow. Then pinstripe
it in the color of your choice. In this case, I used imitation gold. After it's
dry , clear coat with your finish clear but be aware not to shoot the coats too wet
as you'll get wrinkling of the pinstripe. GOOD LUCK IN YOUR ENDEAVOR!
